Photo of the Week: Douglas’ Squirrel (Tamiasciurus douglasii) Stare Down

While hunting for interesting mushrooms to photograph I startled this squirrel who froze right where it stood and glared at me. I noticed that whenever I moved, to make a camera adjustment or to take my eyes out of the viewfinder, it would erupt into a little tap-dance and stamp its rear feet rapidly. I wonder what it was up to.
